The IMARC Center is proud to announce that two open lectures on river hydrology and geomorphology and on glacier geomorphology will be offered in English as part of the international courses that are occurring between the Indonesian University of UMS and Kobe University, Faculty of Oceanology in the field of geoscience.
The classes are designed for beginners and to raise the interest and curiosity of the students. Therefore, anyone who would like to listen and learn about the basics of these environments is welcome to join.
The event is organized jointly by the Sabo laboratory of Professor Christopher Gomez and the Geomorphologist Dr. Aditya Saputra of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
Prof. Christopher Gomez is a specialist in sediment hazards on volcanoes and seismic areas, especially when occurring near the shoreline and interacting with the sea (e.g., tsunamis). Dr. Saputra is a specialist in earthquake geomorphology, and he concentrates on paleo-seismic record recognition to minimize hazards and disaster risk.
