Research Interests

My research interest is short-term climate variability; such as El Nino and Southern Oscillation in the Pacific Ocean, and Indian Ocean Dipole mode in the Indian Ocean. To understand generation, maintain, and terminate mechanisms for those phenomena, observational study based on in situ data becomes a fundamental approach. From that point of view, technology development should be encouraged.

Message for Students

Understanding of climate phenomena is crucial for the consideration of global environment issues. The climate variability has a wide-range time scale from a few years to several centuries. If we consider associated processes, time scales of those processes grow even further. Let’s get multilateral　viewpoints through lectures.
