Research Interests
My research interests are in the field of public international law, in particular law of the sea in general and legal issues related to ocean policy. I have been researching on the issue of "marine biodiversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction", also known as "BBNJ" for 15 years. My current research topic is issues on "sea-level rise in relation to international law". I also conduct research on Arctic policy in collaboration with other research institutions.
Message for Students
I have more than 10 years of experience in international law and policy practice at the government-related organizations, including at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a private think-tank. I welcome students who are interested in the study addressing global and emerging ocean issues from international law perspectives.
