Last Update 2009.09.24
On September 11, 27 students and Vice President Bruce P. BROWNE of the World Maritime University (WMU) visited Faculty of Maritime Sciences, Kobe University. The WMU in Malmo, Sweden is founded by IMO (International Maritime Organization) and she is one of our partner universities. Ocean Policy Research Foundation (OPRF) operates the "WMU Sasakawa Fellowship in-aid Program" under the auspices of The Nippon Foundation, and this year, those 27 new Sasakawa Fellowship students are invited to Japan Field Study. This program aims to give the students an opportunity to meet people in Japanese maritime fields and to exchange views and information. The visit to Kobe University began with a welcome speech by Dean ODA Keiji. Following the speech, our Ph.D. candidate Mr. Trika Pitana, who is from Indonesia and has completed a master's course at the WMU, made a presentation on his research topics. The "Student Discussion Session" was held as a main event of this day, and it was conducted by the students of both universities. They enjoyed their discussion and fostered mutual understanding.
